PSHE - keeping safe and healthy.
PSHE Vision Statement
At Westminster CofE Primary Academy, we believe in providing our children with a PHSE education in which they are learning about the emotional, social and physical aspects of growing up, relationships and their emotional health and wellbeing. This balanced curriculum will enable them to lead a fulfilled life, contributing to the community and beyond.
The value of the PHSE Curriculum is immeasurable as it provides a secure, sensitive, and caring framework where learning and discussion can take place. It provides information which is easy to understand, relevant and appropriate for the needs, age and maturity of the pupils.
Through the units of Identity and Equality, Physical Health and Well-being, and Mental Health and Emotional Well-being, the curriculum fosters self-worth and awareness, together with a sense of moral responsibility.
The units Keeping Safe, Managing Risk, and Drugs Alcohol and Tobacco Education help the children to acquire and practice important life skills such as critical thinking, decision-making, communication, and assertiveness.
The school’s Relationship Education provides children with the opportunity to explore all aspects of their development as well as healthy relationships. Within this balanced curriculum, we place particular emphasis on the following key areas: Mental Health and Well-being, Drugs and Alcohol education, and Relationship Education. At Westminster CofE Primary Academy, these units have key significance to the community we serve.
